Does the red plastic tag improves on the already potent spoon?

When I discovered (by chance .. yes, by chance!) about 6 yrs ago how effective these were, I bought 100 from Berry's on a bulk purchase.  This is all I've got left (honest!).  Gave several away over the yrs, and several more to the FR.  As far as the red 'tag' goes .. yes, I do believe it improves your chances .. cast one of these and let sink for a moment or two, then two or three cranks, and FISH ON! .. but we'll see if anything's changed this yr .. I'm with Rodney on the water clarity .. maybe that red tag might come in handy this yr.

Those are hands-down the best pink spoon going & yes, the red tag does help to get more fish.

Wow ...... the Luhr Jensen "Hot Rod". By far one of the best spoons for both Pink and Coho Salmon. About 4 or 5 years ago, when they stopped making them, I bought the last dozen or so from Freds. I only bring them out on very special occassions. I have about 8 or 9 left (still in the package).

I believe the red tag by the hook has something to do with it's success, but just as important (if not more) is the shade of pink paint used on the spoon. I am using one that is all beat up and the paint is chipped to hell - still works great. I've tried the "Megawatt" that are similar, but I have not had the success as I have had with the "Hot Rod".

I wonder why they stopped making them ??

Never had any success with the Megawatt. One of my favourite Hotrod is 3/8 oz orange with yellow thunderbolts. As c-pin said, the paint is chipped to hell and it still catches fish. I should retire it to my Wall of Honour.

Was at the North Arm Fraser Shore Park in the afternoon for a quick peek. No signs of fish, but the place was jammed with log booms that wasn't there before.  Hope they don't use it as another log parking spot.

There was a gauntlet of nets, at least 12 boats, in the Massey tunnel area around noon today...

Hey everyone,

I didn't want to make a new thread so I just thought I would post this really quick in here.
I have a freshwater license and salmon/steelhead stamps already, but I am thinking about fishing the mouth of a river in my area that goes into the fraser ( east of the port mann bridge).
Which license is it that I need to buy and do I need to buy another salmon stamp or no?

Thanks in advance guys, i had already looked at the government website but I was still kinda unclear about it.

If you are fishing at the confluence of a Lower Fraser River tributary east of Port Mann Bridge and West of Mission's CPR bridge (eg. mouth of Coquitlam River, Stave River), then you'd need a tidal water fishing licence, and a salmon stamp to go with that licence if you intend to keep salmon.
