Brutal! It's sad when the natives are given so much freedom in there "rights" to fish when they please and they abuse it this way.

DFO Steveston contacted Musqueam Fisheries this afternoon when the nets were reported and they have been removed since.

Once again illegal fishing swept under the counter. No accountability, no charges as per normal.

  I work on the North Arm and it's the same thing in the same spot every year. DFO should know by now to just do spot checks there and they will find unattended nets every time. There is also a net up in the eel grass there strung between two deadhead logs that will only get fish on the 14 + foot tides, but it is also left unattended all year. I saw the RCMP look at the net mentioned in this post last weekend but no one came to remove it until now I guess.
