Just wondering a couple small things before embarking on my first Vedder & first ever river salmon trip in mid October.....I will be using a float setup with my Abu 6500C3 and.....well not yet decided on my rod so far. However I believe I will have a Shimano Convergence Salmon/Steelheader 10'6" with me either way as I just could not pass up the deal they had on them at wholesale sports for $52.88!!....good backup to have at the very least and may even use it as my main for now but just not yet sure.
Forgive me if some of this has been discussed elsewhere or if these seem like "newbie" questions but really they kind of are, lol
Roe: Bags or no bags?
What is everyones opinion on bags vs baitloop?
How big of bags to tie if one does use bags?
I will more than likely be purchasing my Roe locally when I get there....or possibly from this place.....depending on what kind of responses and recommendations I get of course!!!...
http://www.centerpinangling.com/spawn-products.html (no I have no affiliation of any sort with them, just something I found while surfing around, lol)
Any recommendations as to where to get good/decent quality roe locally? And will there be any problem getting it locally between Oct 17th and 20th? (any supply issues?)
Brand to look for?
I have heard that just using a baitloop may be more effective? Of course I realize that I would probably be going through much more roe with the bait loop and store bought roe.
As well I believe that if indeed I went the baitloop route then purchasing from the above site would not make any sense really as they are all loose eggs....and my understanding with the baitloop is to just take a skein of eggs and tie it into the baitloop?....Piercing the skeins with the hook as well for help with keeping it on and maybe adding a bit of wool to hide the hook?
Any help/suggestions/direction that may help in this is much appreciated
Cheers,
