I put some 8 pound sufix elite line on my spinning reel and was really impressed with it, ive tied alot of lines lately and I gotta say this sufix casted really smooth compared to the berkley lines and maxima lines ive been using lately and also had alot less stretch then the other monos ive used as well. I got skunked tonite but I cant wait to get a fish on to really put this line to the test. Has anyone else out there used this line? what did ya think? Prior to using this stuff maxima was my fave mono, but i think i like this sufix stuff better...

Yes. Same thoughts as you. Fish on if still fine and dandy. And great fit the price of the large spool you get. I'm on trilene line not I think, but would not mind going back to suffix

Suffix is quality stuff but a person has to be careful-I'll only buy something like that @ a high volume shop and be sure to keep the receipt around-old mono can be bad news.

i have a spool of 17lb test camo that i have yet to use...they've gotten good reviews about their smooth cast ability and abrasion resistance...also low memory.

mono line can maintain their characteristics if stored in moderate, dry temperatures away from uv lights.

haha I am guessing you got the 17lb camo at RFT? Lol, at least that's where I got my spool of it and I haven't seen it too many other ships.

as for the verdict on the line, I have used it on the Fraser but not yet on the vedder where I spend most of my time... So the verdict is out for now but as of yet it has performed well enough...

I've used it on both my levelwind and centerpin and it works well in both situations. I always try other lines but end up going back to the suffix every time. The only thing is that I end up having to respool more often. I get at most 10 trips out of a fresh spool before it starts to haze. Not sure if the strength is compromised when this happens but I respool anyway.

I switched from berkley to platypus line this year for my spinning reel and man was I ever impressed. One of the best lines that I have casted with this spinning reel, and I have tried alot of line on this reel.

Personally, I didn't like it as leader material.  Found that the abraisive ability was quite low because it's so soft compared to maxima ultra green who would get my vote for a river leader material.   Have never used it as a mainline so won't comment on that.

@ Walmart suffix lines and Berkley lines are the same price for 8lb lines.  The suffix spool looks larger, but they are both 330 yards of line.

i had the super 100 20lbs on my reel fresh out of the package and it broke above the float first fish i hooked. it was off quicker than a dress on prom night.

Third season with suffix and can't say enough good things about it. It remains 'fresh' and supple on the spool much much longer than
Maxima Ultragreen, which had been my line of choice in the past.
Maxima just has the best marketing in place which helps them sell quite a bit of its expensive lines, but when you look at it realistically, their Ultragreen brand becomes horrible after just a couple of outings. Plus, it is quite a bit thicker than other brands.

I still like to use Maxima Ultragreen as leader material myself.

I also find Berkley trilene very decent for the price.

where do you guys buy platypus line locally? I've been using their lo-stretch on my spinning reel and absolutely love it!! I won my from the fish porn but would like to buy some local.

I use the the clear suffix on some of my spinning reels and I like it, pretty low memory and seems to degade less quick than the easy casting Trilene I was using before.
