Just got a brochure at work for a free teacher workshop called "Fish Tales". Sounds great until you see it is presented by the Fraser Institute and that "Teachers will be shown how to use economic principles to help students understand such issues as the over harvesting of wild salmon and the growth of aquaculture using economic principles."
As if a good lesson on the benefits of salmon farming isn't enough, Chris Sporer, commercial rep, will be there to talk about the halibut fishery in BC. I'm sure the lineup of teachers waiting to sign up for something sponsored by the Fraser Institute will be short.

I think this is one free workshop I will skip. Or maybe I should go and ask some questions

It's all good news that they gave the commercial guy's full rein over the quota's. Also seem that a small grtoup seem to be influencing the whole process and giving DFO stats on how well everything is going. DFO seems to be acting on that information alone.

sorry, was subjected to enough sermons from pastor walker at so called business lunches in the eighties. less taxes ,especially for business, no social net, especially if it means tax dollars.
This is not the eighteenth century, people matter.

Skaha , I agree.

"Pastor Walker" is tongue in cheek. Away from "policy" have met him socially several times and they are really nice folks. He instilled" hard work in what ever you do "will be a major part of success in his kids. one of whom worked for me. Policies aside, I liked him, and as you eluded to and my own belief is that, somewhere in the middle is usually fair.
