NFR - Recycling 1 LB Propane bottles?

Anyone know how I can recycle 1lb Propane bottles?  Throwing them out seems to be a REAL waste.

Not that this answers your question but I used to go through 3-4 dozen a year, maybe more. 

This year finally splurged and bought the adapter for the large tank and haven't had to refill one time.  No waste and $ savings as well.

Me too.
Bought a 4 or 5lb small bottle and the adapter hose.
Last me the whole year instead of 10 bottles.

Works really well for everything - especially well if you use a lantern and a pipe pole - gets the lantern up fairly high.

A scout group I know uses them for their stoves, and goes through quite a few.  Unfortunately they need the portability and independence of the small bottles because they have 6-8 stoves going at one time.

I have an adapter that I use for MY 3 burner coleman... WAY easier than those stupid bottles.

Drop them off at a scrap metal place. All of our scrap metal from old nails to machinery parts goes to a scrap dealer for recycling.

That might just be the best/only solution.  Seems that it's not easy to find a company that will accept them for recycling "normally"

At recycling depot.  At least the one in Maple Ridge do have a section (left hand side) where you can drop off propane tanks and bottles for recycling.
