Lots of chum and a few coho moving into the lower river on Sunday morning after the tide switched. Heading back out tomorrow morning lookin for coho. It's still early.

I did see a few, but I wouldn't call it "lots."  There should be lots soon enough.

hopefully they close it again. It was sad to see all the snagging/rotten fish being retained there last year before it was closed. The staves catch phrase should be "good for the smoker"

hahah every time I hear that line I want to punch the guy in the mouth...IF IT AINT GOOD TO EAT FRESH, IT AINT WORTH TAKING OUT OF BED IMO...

Took a drive out to the Stave today to check conditions.
Several hundred pinks and maybe 40 chum in the spawning channel. All were quite ripe.
Lots more mouldy pinks and chum in the toilet bowl, though the water level is much lower than I have seen (it looks more like a urinal).

2 CO's checking licences just up from the TB was good to see, though there were few fishers in that area.
I saw maybe 10 fishers in that area and there was more up closer to the dam. No one I saw had caught anything.
One fly fisher was wet wading at the top of the TB - it didn't look pleasant.

4 cars parked illegally on the west side but no tickets. I watched as one guy waded across to one of the islands. The water was well above his waist and it was 3 hours before high tide. I assume his plan was to stay out ther until the tide went out. He will be very unhappy if they decide to increase the flow from the dam.

Looks too early in my opinion, with no rain forecast for the weekend I can't see a big push of fish coming in.

Wet wading in October is always pleasant.  It is the November frost that makes me don the neoprene.

Lots coming for Monday, but that's not going to change the weekend fishing prospects.

Went out today and yes you can catch fish, but it is still slow if you after chum.  They are there but you will not post big numbers.  I checked and last year on October 11th I landed 6 on jigs.  So maybe like people say by the 14th or 15tth it should be hopping.

saw the c.o.'s ticketing a few asian guys there today. Chums are there to be caught  if you know how and where to fish for them, Ive only seen boots though. counted over 20 guys there this am but only saw one fish caught, the gong show has begun.  I have had to explain to multiple people that the spawning channel is closed so if you happen to see someone fishing there please explain to them that it is not allowed.

I posted on this last year, the boundary signs are not enough.  It needs to be SPELLED OUT that the channel is closed.  Perhaps people from the board could donate some time and effort in creating some signage to put up?  Translations into the various languages and then an image of the closed portion of the channel.  One rain soaked notice is not enough IMHO.

Rod do you think DFO would do something like this??  Do people think this would help or would it be a waste of time?  People will fish it regardless cuz that's just the way it is?

I suggest putting some fence around that channel

2 days ago I already seen DFO putting a new sign on that triangle sign, can't believe they are still fishing there
