B.B.E.A.K. report. Oct 15, 2011

4AM alarm goes off, slam on my simms waders, pound down a NOS energy drink and I'm on the road. Decide to try my luck today bouncing for squirrels. First cast snag into a cedar. Second cast line gets fouled up around a gnarled stump. Cut the line and re-rig up. Saw 2 squirrels running around on tree branches high above. I almost got a bite when I hurled a perfect cast with my 5 oz betty and 5/O treble hook wrapped in pencil lead vertically into the thick forrest canopy. Rainbow wool was my weapon of choice today, but I dipped it in fish oil just to be safe. The rig glanced a tree and the hook bounced excellently. I just grazed the tail of one of the squirrels. Spent the next 3 hours trying to get my gear out of the branches. Pounded back another NOS energy drink and hit the bricks.

Next time I'll try chartreuse with some sparklies in it instead of rainbow. Fish oil seemed to be effective.

ROTLMAO!

Naturally, the jacket would be camo...

I would like something like a a holster they use in the army for a bunch of grenades on the front of the vest to hang up all my bouncing betties. I have about 30 different styles of betty, varying in weight, rubber outside or not, and color. I prefer the yellow bouncing betties myself.

Anyone have a betty preference? I seem to hook the most animals when I use the yellow weights.

Yellow weights are considered to be unethical. If you're a self respecting bottom bouncer, chartreuse is the cats's meow.

A guy next to us at the Stave got fouled up and pulled in a three way swivel dual 3oz betty settup, would love to meet the evil mastermind who dreamed that rig up. Sod chucking guts lets just chuck the nuts at them.

I'm going to tie 3 betties to a threeway swivel and just fire that directly into the current. No rod nothin'

They should bite that right? Maybe I should use different color betties..

Bottom bouncing for squirrels? How about Bar fishing for back labs?
Today saw a dog get hooked today at dump bar in Richmond (NOT EVEN JOKING EITHER).

The poor guy fishing kept being harassed by this pack of about 10 dogs who the owner didn't even care about.
Finally after retying his bait several times after his rod being knocked over by the dogs the dogs decided to try some roe.
Obviously the dog liked it and then ate the hook!
He was hooked in the mouth for about 2 minutes (inside of mouth, not even foul hooked ;)
The owner didnt give a cupcakes. and the poor fisherman had to pull the hook out risking his own hand.

Sad but true.

I hoped he had a canine conservation surcharge on his licence.

He didnt drag the dog up onto the bank and over-handle him before releasing him did he? that would be just plain ignorance given the catch and release mortalities for dogs
