hello

I tried to cure some roe, I have read some thread about how to do it including the Rodney video,
apparently I used orange pro-cure to cure the roe, it doesn't work too good in vedder in the past few days

someone gave me his cured-roe, it's red, first cast, bang, fish on .....

so I guess orange is no good or do i miss anything while curing it? put borax in it?

and what color is good for chinook and coho?  brand?

as for the spawn bag, it's advertised that will help you saving your roe, but the truth is, while putting the bag on, doesn't it lose the bite feel for the fish?
I mean when the fish bite, they feel it unnaturally and won't take it

Nothing wrong with orange cure. Some days fish like red, other days fish like orange. Some day, none of the above.

from my experience bags work just fine and do save roe. I like to tie them the night before.

Roe bags are sometimes used to prevent steelhead smolts from pecking on procured eggs as they are harmful for them.

Heres a tip if your gonna use roe bags, stop by a Michaels craft store and for 8 bucks pick yourself up a roll of that wedding veil material (forgot what its called), you'll have enough to tie roe bags for 3 lifetimes.

for the roe bags you need to buy water hardened single eggs.

You can just use pieces of roe in the sack but idealy single eggs are preffered for roe sacks.

So go buy some cured roe at Berry's and throw some of that stuff in a mesh bag, tie to hook and away I go?

You can.... HOWEVER:
 you have to remember the roe releases scent as well as appearance ( what the fish see).
the roe bags are the same but water hardend eggs last a bit longer though don't release as much scent (as quickly).
After a while both have to be changed.

I watch too many people beat that single gob of roe to death
and wonder what they are doing wrong.
Nothing really, but a peice of gum only has so much flavor to offer, you have to refresh.
a spinner or spoon has an indefinite shelf life, BUT bait is only as good as its scent or appearance.
There's more to it but that's the jest (IMO).

Also, you can add a bit of of colored wool to your presentation.
a little red or.......... wool added (to your bait loop) with your natural cured roe will change the color but not the added scent of pro-cure and the like.

Too many variables. 
Those who get out often do well for that reason.
