Yesterday, I made my last coho trip this season out to the Vedder and also wanted to try out what you suggested.
Man was I in for a disappointment. I know fishing was slowing down in the past several days on the lower river, but yesterday since first light on, I did not have a single take down which looked like one from a fresh run coho. So I had no chance to try out what you suggested. Gonna have to wait until next season.
Fresh run coho fishing on the lower river looks pretty much dead unless we have a run of big northern cohos comming up later.
Saw only one coho landed on the lower river yesterday.
All the beaks below Keith Wilson Bridge moved up to Tamahi bouder rapids to practice their art of white water flossing. Saw two dozen strong yesterday.
Lots of coloured fish up river ready to spawn.
I am going to pack in my rods and wait for December steelhead season.
