Found Pontoon Boat on Thompson
« on: November 13, 2011, 01:46:37 PM »

Hey guys.

We found a pontoon boat on the Thompson.
Found it at around noon, and figured we should leave it just in case someone had left it there and was coming to get it later.
Went back after dark and it was still there (over 5 hrs later) so we grabbed it. Just seeing if anyone knows anything about it.

Give me colours, approx length, brand and we'll arrange something...

Cheers,
Dan

How can one forget a pontoon boat ? It's not like it's a small thing.

Boat with the oars locked in.... that's it, nothing else.

We thought someone just left it and was coming back for it after walking to truck, but after 5 hours and half an hour past dark you woulda thought they had gotten it by then?

Small boat too, can't believe there are people that would drift the T in that alone  ???

I don't like thinking of the worst but what if there used to be a person on it and ended up in the drink. Pretty scary to think of that.

I would post a message on Fly B.C. about this. Someone might know who the owner is if it got away from them and washed downstream, especially if they were flyfishing.

if you dont find the owner you should put it up for auction on here and donate the money to a good cause.   ;D

what size was the pontoon boat ?   I have a bucks newer  southfork with PVC  outer skin  8 foot.    I was going to  drift and row  the T.  this  June.   I would be following  my buddy who is in his   13  foot inflatable  row  professional  drift boat.

My concern is the T  might be too fast for me in  the bucks  even though it is rated  class 3.   I am  60 years old and in real good  arm strength shape.    But  even that may not be enough for the  T  if it is  in  fast flow.

My buddy and I did the T  3 years ago in in inflatable  drift boat  and  it was  exciting to go down the class three rapids.

WE got  expert advice from  Steve Jennings  at the Little Fort shop  about  which  side of  the  T  to be drifting down.    Some parts were absolute nightmares to be avoided.

thanks

Wasn't tied up... was on the beach. Like I said we left it alone for more than 5 hours and came back to still find it there in the dark.
Hard to believe some one would just leave it on the beach during a period with lots of anglers on the water...

Cohojoe... I wouldnt try it, but that me.
I do lots of tubing in the Vedder just below tamihi to bridge, but wouldn't even think about the T in an 8 foot pontoon lol
