Fraser Valley, November 26th 2011: Coho fishing report
« on: November 26, 2011, 05:52:12 PM »

Still some coho left in local waters...for eager fly chuckers!

These were taken today in the early AM:

There were also some fairly nice chum present to justify the heavier rods used (7/8-weight):

We even landed a double header:  :)

All in all, an awesome day with a good friend. ;D

I knew I should have had one more trip out. Very well done. Last week was slowing and the weather as well as work kept me away. Makes me feel like I should of made the time. That looks like a lot of fun. ;D

i honestly thought I'd be done by now, but this good buddy of mine called me yesterday and said 'let's give that spot one more shot'.
I said yes and the rest is history. :)

Not sure if I'll be heading out again before steel season. Probably not.

Hey are those simms gloves the fingerless ones or the ones that have the flap on it? I wanna buy a pair, are they waterproof?

Hey Milo,

Glad to see that spot is still looking good. We fished there a few weeks ago and each hassled that idiot snagging and bonking chum.

Nice work on the late fish.

They are the ones with the flap and no, they are not waterproof. My friend was upset that he forgot to take them off to handle the fish.

Hi there, TP! :D
Yes, I remember you and your buddies very well. We did give some serious collective $hit to that moron. I'm sure he'll think twice before fishing that kind of water with this snagging outfit.  :)
I was quite surprise to still see some coho rising there and decided to give it one last try.
Except for the very odd late fish, most of what's around is stale.
Time to hang up the rod and let salmon have their babies. Steelhead is around the corner.
See you on the flow in January.

Cheers,

Milo

Great report and congratulation for success.

just a reminder.
when I see a "snagger" on the water who is fishing differently then I do I just approach him and give him some friendly advise how to fish properly.
That way I feel much better and I will be confident that I did something good.
I will never take pride in "hassling" another fishermen under any excuse even if I wanted some particular spots only for myself.

You are a good man, azafai.
I hope all the snaggers and poachers run into you before they run into me. ;)

Simms Windstopper gloves are decent for dry cold and windy days, but aren't suited for cold rain/sleet etc.  Despite the advertising, they are NOT warm when wet.  Fingerless boiled wool gloves take the cake for being the best steelheading gloves around.  Also, I in convertible mits (fingerless with the flap that covers finger) don't work well for fly fishing, they just get in the way.  Just keep a handwarmer charcoal heat pack in your handwarmer pocket of your waders.
