I like fishing Intruders from 4-6inches. I also carry some smaller stuff with me for the more pressured spots and when the water gets really clear. I think this year i might even try nymphing some egg patterns with the spey rod LOL

when i fly fish for winter steelhead i usually tie up a bunch of leech variations in diffrent colours and sizes and weighted and unweighted, also one i started using last year is a big 4-6" pink worm like fly.
for summer runs i use dries and small shrimp imations under an indacator.

that one looks good but i think it would work better with a longer fluffier tail possibly with some flash.
looks a bit like a summer run fly to me

intruders, prom dresses, and big shrimp style patterns, It depends on the size of the flow on a few of the smaller coastal streams I fish on the island I tie mini intruders and the same kind of intruder style patterns just smaller.
