I've seen them up to 6' in Princess Royal Island down south 4 is a biggun used to be schools of big ones around Jedediah Island.

Few things are easier to catch but if you're not getting any bites put an old sock on your hook-throw it out/reel it back in-that approximates the action you'll get.

Honestly  targeting those slugs is as pathetic a waste of time as geocaching.

  while I agree with you for the most part, I have however caught a couple that indeed put up a "decent" fight, never targeted them of course and have only caught them as a by-catch when fishing for both salmon and halibut......pain in the my friend is what they are really but was fun to catch one the first time and thats about it, lol.
