Chilliwack River, February 9th 2012
« on: February 10, 2012, 11:02:15 AM »

Headed out of North Vancouver early with one other fisherman.  Usually fish the Vedder section and only go up higher when the wind is blowing.  Fished upstream of the KW bridge and my partner hooked into one 6-7 lb hatchery which did a last minute aerial and got off a few second before hitting the beach.

I hooked into a wild 12-13 lber at Brown Road, it hit the fast water and was about 100 yds downstream in a few second.   Worked my way down to it and after about 20 minutes had it near the shore and quite tired.  Walked out and lovingly removed my hook from its lip.  It gave me a small splash with its tail and headed back out into the flow.

Only second time out as had an operation on my hand mid December.  So far one small trout and one wild steely.  All my fish last season were wild hope to get one I can bonk this year as my smoked fish supply is starting to run low.

Thanks for the report DCH and I know what you mean. I ate the very last of my precious smoked sockeye last night on crackers and cream cheese. Damn how I wish I had more, but I think I gave away more than I kept. Share the love, light up the darkness.

Good to hear you at least had a fatty on and it always amazes me the strength and speed of these water missiles. I've only been out once this year and didn't connect on that trip. I had major knee surgery a few months back and the knees still a bit fragile and wonky
so I need to watch my step, no pun intended.

Take care DCH and I hope to see you on the flow !!!

Filing a report a bit later than usual as I haven't had time typing this up, also needed time to climb out of depression. ;D We Someone had a good day on Thursday. It's a bit wordy:

It's more like "hmmm, Nina out fished me again, I don't feel like writing up a report".    ;D ;D
