hi , Does anyone know where to find crayfish now in lower mainland?
I don't know if it's the season right now but I heard in summer there are lots of them
are they not very active in cold days ?
I tried to find some today but no luck
and where specifically should i look for in the river?

I imagine that like most fin fish, they would be more active in warmer weather, but they should still be there and they need to eat.  Place your trap near structure (logs, roots, rocks, undercut banks, etc.), and make sure your bait is fresh (fresh salmon roe should be good).   Also place the trap near the lower end of the pools as you will get better results.  Finally, leave the trap over night, as crayfish are largely nocturnal feeders.  Release any fin fish in your trap, and release any crayfish under 9cm in length or that have eggs to sustain the population.

I do not believe that is legal in fresh water (fin fish, or parts there of, can only be used when fishing for sturgeon in the Fraser or Burbot up north).  I would suggest sticking with fresh roe.

Just double checked, I will remove the salmon meat immediately and use some roe instead

dont forget the months ending in R are considered the best for quality, chiken liver.

damn it after the big snow and raining today river level rise rapidly, cant even reach the spot where I put my trap, might be gone

what type o ftrap do you use.

just a normal shrimp trap    2' x 1' x 1/2'size

i did put a good size rock in it too    hopefully it wont go...

You can give Lake of the Woods in hope a shot as well, some BIG ones there.

Best spot would be west end by the Big Rock fall.

There are also lots in Silver lake, but check the regs on it, it states release ALL fish, don't think that includes Crayfish, but better to check before going!!
