Real Fishing with Bob Izuma. ( my favorite fishing show )
« on: March 22, 2012, 03:59:08 PM »

Do like watching a lot of tv fishing shows including "Real Fishing".

Not so long ago ( month ago ? ) he had an entire show fishing peacock bass.

Some were over 20 lbs.

The owner of the fishing service there has two large fishing mother ships & guests venture out in smaller boats.

The river waters fished are in Brazil.

Plus even piranhas fish were caught (teethy buggers)

The guides go the extra mile....should your lure get hooked up in a tree or under the water on some debris ,they will climb or jump into the river & get your lure back !!!!!

That's what I call service.

Wonder how many tv fishing shows at in production in the present.
Also how many dif ones thru the years if they were added up.

One of my favorite was Ted Peck & his tv program. Way way way back there folks.

Think it was on CKNW radio in the past that they had live fish reports from a boat ( on he weekend)
Now that would be a nice job to have.
Think it was Mr Peck that also did that live report.

If my memory serves me correctly he had a son fall into some river current & drown. Bad accident .

Fishing season will be in full swing lakes salt etc & into summe & fall . Safety first.

Anyone have a favorite tv fishing show? ( Rod's vids are super ....good job)

Tides and Trails was a good show. Enjoyed listening his Sunday night radio show on CKWX. Tragically he lost one of his son on the Capilano River

IMO Bon Izumi is a beek.  I have seen one of his episodes where he landed a Steelhead, grabbed it by the gill plate, held it up for a picture, while the Steelhead's blood dripping down his arm, then release it.  Anybody that acts like that on the river is a huge beek.  Especially somebody that is supposed to know a thing or two about fishing and fish and fishing ethics.  I have also seen his daughter do the same thing while on a boat.  There is a show called "Fishful Thinking," not sure what the hosts name is but he is a quality fisherman.  And I would have to say that Mark Peddlington has a great show, although he likes to keep his fish out of the water a bit too long for some pics.  But a quality show by a decent fisherman.

Watched many fishing shows with Bent Rod in them, one of the best was when he took Gary Cooper's grandkid for some steelies on the Vedder.  The kid got a beauty at the prison.  That kid loves to fish more than I do..

ya i cant stand izumi either , and pendlingtons show would be alot better if every time he caught a fish he wasnt like "oh look at the bend in these fenwick hmx rods" and have you seen the episode where he is catching like 18 -25 pound springs and calling all them tyee's its good for a laugh. that fishful thinking guy does have one of the best shows out there i like how he does his without a guide. shows he is a real angler and isnt dependant on guides to catch fish.

That's "funny" because was going to say "What about the Canadian Sports Fishing Show on TSN.
Ya posted just secs before me Fish Assassin.

Yes he has a gift of the gab.
I think he focuses a lot on teaching techniques in the hopes to educate people more new to the sport.

One boat he may still have was a Sea Breeze.
What a great hull design.
Made in Newfoundland..

Also another tv fishing show that was on chek tv ch 6 "Nice Fish " was good.
Have not seen in listings lately.

--Charlie Wray's fishfulthinking... one of the few shows that gives useful tips, especially for freshwater trolling of big water.

The show with mark kruppa has some nice spots but the guys a little too animated for me, I'm suprised he doesn't lose more fish with all the fancy rod work and running around.
