Am I reading this right, you are allowed 5 kokanee/day except from a stream. So you are allowed 5 from allouette lake /day.

Yes, 5 a day, but you are only allow 2 daily quotas (10) in your possession.

--underrated as a game fighter as old school gang troll, worm, lead line etc. not a whole lot of fun, but still gets results.
--when deeper water fishing is required downriggers allow for use of lighter gear at depth.
--take a look at Kokanee Power chapters in USA where they are addicted to kokanee. On line book available on current kokanee techniques as tested in USA derby's  by author Kent Cannon.

--Okanagan lake now open for kokanee fishing after being closed for many years. Expect to see new stocking of sterile kokanee in lakes to enhance year round fishing opportunities. Most recently Monte lk.

We fished Alouette for Kokanee for the first time last weekend. I was a bit surprised that fly outfished bait 4:1.
I was using my 5wt with Type III sinking line and a small red Carey while my buddy was using a dodger and wedding band.

One of the larger fish fought really well, with 4 large jumps. The others were gently pulled in - remember that they have very soft mouths.
Average size was quite small (4 cleaned fish weighed 1.5 lbs) but the meat was firm and tasty.

True, however possession limits are not applicable to your ordinary residence. If he is living at his "ordinary residence" then he can retain 5 fish per day until the cows come home.

Can kokanee be caught right off the shore at allouete? Or are they mostly caught in the  deeper areas in a boat?

We were fishing in 90-150 feet of water at least 200 yds from shore. I think you would mostly catch pikeminnows or the odd rainbow from shore.

Here's the fly I used last weekend:

Yes, we would be referring to in your possession at or near the lake (ie: you are camping there), or in your car on your way home.  If you are fishing for the day and returning home each day, then yes, 5 a day until the cows come home.
