Type of rope for prawn traps
« on: May 10, 2012, 11:06:37 PM »

I am trying to decide between two types of rope for my new prawn traps, either 500 ft of lead rope or 500 ft of spliced rope (100 ft leaded and 400 ft nylon/floating).  Any recommendations from people that have used either?

I use nylon rope with no problem.

I think you mean polypropylene, nylon sinks its dock line and anchor lines.

I use leaded, helps keep things down. if there is a major tide change I still add 10lbs of wieght.
make big coils with the leaded rope, and it never tangles.

How is poly in the puller?
