Wild migrating salmon likely infected their farmed cousins in B.C., say experts
June 11, 2012 | Keven Drews, The Canadian Press
VANCOUVER - Observers of the decades-long argument over fish farming in B.C. can now add one more shade of grey to the debate.
Industry critics have long feared Atlantic salmon raised in open-net cages in the ocean can pass on diseases to wild salmon and as a result, jeopardize those wild stocks.
But an outbreak of infectious haematopoietic necrosis, known as IHN, on an Atlantic salmon farm off Vancouver Island's west coast in May appears to have been caused by passing wild stocks, a reversal of the traditional arguments against the industry.

That's the great thing about free speech.....

Now it's up to us to decide who we should believe; a corporation whose sole objective is to make it's shareholders happy by generating a profit, or a lady whose sole objective is to save the wild salmon for the benefit of everyone.

I thought I've been pretty clear that the feedlots will say anything and do anything that will allow them to continue to pollute our coast while selling an inferior product to whoever will believe their stories. I have an idea that a large chunk of the public believes this as well.

That may be why it appears that I am speaking for the general public...  :)

Thats more like it.  At least you are clear that it is just an idea that you have which suggests that maybe it just isn't a fact.  I have a feeling you are very wrong.

Nice to have you back at my level.

I'm the general public and he sure doesn't speak for me.

I suspect it is more accurate to say he and many others speak for themselves.

Should be any day now, or the media wont pay attention.  It that case we will have to settle for her blog.  I am certain she will wait for the media to have a slow day and put a new item up.  The media seems to be the qualifying organization for her science. :-\
