Wondering what is the best set up, bait etc etc. any info would help thanks.

I've taken quite a few jigging buzz bombs from a boat.

Oh,  I dont have the access to a boat that often and when im, i have no problems with rock fish. but from shore i can never really get them.  
been wanting to catch one since sunday at west van *i noe is only been 1 day hehe*  on sunday, this guy landed the biggest i have ever seen caught off the pier. it was i think almost 20".

when i fish from shore up on the sunshine coast we usually catch shiner perch first and then use those as bait.  seems to work better if they are still alive

Greenlings are usually close by the kelp.. fish it with a jig head and twister tail. Or you can catch them bar fish style with bait like herring, squid, etc...

Use "sea worms".  not sure exactly what they are called.  Best bait around for catching rockcod, lingcod & dogfish.  One of the best baits for me when I go salt water

i went up to some locals and asked. sea worms is good since they do live around the kelp bed, but i dont think they are so good for rockcod; correct me if im wrong. im just basing this on the looks of the fish itself and my little experiance.

Around here, i have caught rockcod with sea worms.  Also great for perch.  

Anyways, I have had a lot of success using jigs

Sea worms are excellant bait for any of the local saltwater fish.

i used them to catch large pile perch under docks. you have to find them during lowtide around rocky barnacle encrusted beaches....watch out they really bitewhen handling them!!

Get your SCUBA cert and a Hawaiian sling....works well for me

thanks, i know where to get them but just never have time to get my own bait *OK fine im lazy *  but next time i go ill probably give it a go.

Also, if you can get underneath the iron memorial bridge, at the right tide, you can get a few bigger ones than anywhere else i find.

forget about ambleside and stanley park. A big one will be like 6 inches.

forget about amble side park eh? ..... someone caught a rockcod on dew worm on thrusday, and that is where i saw the big greenlings. not to mention about the lingcods. never knew so many fish existed there.
