Chilliwack River, July 22nd 2012
« on: July 22, 2012, 02:58:19 PM »

Started the day off in the upper river. The water was high but look good and had some nice slow pockets on the run I was fishing, no fish were there so moved to below the crossing and same thing. Oh well still had a great time out and found some nice holes!

I did the exact same thing today although in the upper run where we were fishing i did see one "fisherman" catch a spring. Looked to be about 12lbs, but it was totally spawned out. Not even red, black! Me and my buddy could not believe someone would keep such a terrible quality fish. I dont think even that fish was, " good for the smoker." lol. oh well to each their own.
I did see 2 sockeye get caught and gently released in the water, well done to the 2 gentlemen who did that.
Then we moved to mid river, saw 1 decent spring caught, maybe 8lbs and 1 sockeye again released gently. A lot of people were out fishing today but the fish numbers were just not there. Hope some more fish come in.

Chinooks are in there, river is just really high. Went last saturday and hooked a bully, resident rainbow, 2 sockeye, and a 10# coloured chinook. All released with care. I guess some people like to eat there salmon through a straw :D.

Ya I have to say its not nearly as busy as posts here seem to say.  Me and Geoff showed up late at around 5:30am on saturday at one of our favourite holes and there were just two guys fishing side by side at one corner of the huge run. After a quick chat with them we set up downstream of them and started getting socks right away. Together we released 15 of them but no springs were caught except the jack that I got.  Also some good manners were seen by us as two others guys showed up and just waited patiently for a spot, I motioned to them that we were moving on and they happily took our spots. Hope they had good luck.

its not as busy because most locals understand that the 1st nations are dip netting and it is already a very unproductive run. this is sealing the deal

I was catching springs daily. and now i havent touched a fish in 4 days. Unfortunate that our government allows this..

I had no problem getting into fish yesterday on the Vedder. Landed 2 Dollys, a chrome sockeye that inhaled my roe, and hit 3 chinook which were all long line released :( saw lots of fish rising.
