Chilliwack River, August 6th 2012
« on: August 06, 2012, 04:00:34 PM »

In the current heat wave the tourists from the Lower Rainland were stacking up along the river. In four hours of fishing I hooked two tubers from Newton in a nice corner pool but they came unpinned at the beach.  Foul hooked three rafters from Whalley and Poco but couldn't hold them in the current.  One mattress floater broke 20 lb test leader with one leap in the air.... a fresh doe from Mission.  Over all it was quite the successful day on the river. Also, I had the privilege of watching "two 60 plus Coors slurpers" slugging each other to the ground at the Peach Road pool.  Two more senior snipers jumped on them to break up the contest.  Then a young buck 6'5" 270 lber picked them apart and settled the conflict dodging swinging fists and cursing lips.  Apparently, the fight was over a bad poker game with one guy calling the other a "bouncing betty joker".
Life is so eventful in Chilliwack.  It seems that fishing on the Vedder has very little to do with catching fish.  Happy Holidays.

Thanks for the report! I think I'll head out tomorrow to see if there are still any does left over from the long weekend.  :o

Flyrod you're a class act ! Very funny report. Loved the part about, foul hooked three rafters from Whalley and Poco but couldn't hold them in the current and the fresh doe from Mission is priceless. Thanks for putting another smile on my face this long weekend. Dang, seems like thats all I've done all weekend is laugh and smile. Could be worse.
