It turned out to be a fantastic day for the derby, the sun was shining and it was a warm 15 degrees throughout the day,
we ended up getting less than 30 entries but that makes sense when it it held on a long weekend and also while we were competing with another derby on the same river, this has been noted and next year the derby will be on a different weekend. Allthough we only had 30 fishermen enter, at times we had close to 80 people who came out to support the cause by buying raffle/50-50 tickets and enjoying a great BBQ lunch and good company !!
There were 7 fish weighed in ( apparently it was a very tough fishing day ) with largest Coho caught by Ian W weighing in at 9lb 1oz
The biggest Spring was caught by Francis and it weighed in at an even 18 lbs
The smallest coho was weighed in by Kevin C and it didn't even hit the lb mark
The smallest Spring was caught by Mike H weighing in at 3lb 11oz
Narrowly beating out Chad H's entry weighing in at 3lb 12oz
honorable mentions got to Dave W with a Coho at 3lb12oz
and Roy with a Coho weighing 4lb13oz
Roy won the hidden weight Coho prize and Francis won the hidden weight Spring prize
there were at least 30 more prizes left after the derby prizes were given out and many peopleleft happy with some great stuff !!!
A huge thank you goes out to all of our sponsors who made this possible, and also to all those who helped me out cooking, cleaning, serving, selling tickets etc...
here are a few more random photo's from the day ..... I hope next year we will see alot more people from this site at the derby
tight lines everyone !!
