Tamahi Rapids tactics
« on: October 22, 2012, 12:01:52 AM »

Hi All,

I was trying out Tamahi last week and noticed that there were guys doing very well. I'm relatively new, so I spied their setups, and below their floats, it looks like they had between 7 -9 feet of leader, with lead a fair way down, and a single egg.

I was fishing with roe and had a really disappointing day, both there and at a nice pool a little down river.

My question is, are the fish biting these small, single egg presentations as it zips past them in the turbulent rapids, or is this more often than not a case of the fish being flossed. I didn't take the time to inspect the hook set of other peoples'fish, but it sure was impressive seeing about a half dozen guys out of 40 or so running down the lineup with a fish on every other minute...

Just curious.

Thanks guys,

Andrew
