Is fishing really good as reported by Fred's
« on: October 26, 2012, 06:25:44 PM »

Hi guys

Fred has been reporting excellent fishing!!!!

Maybe it is just me but fishing has not really been that great for me the last few times I went out. Now, I don't normally fish pass the crossing. Maybe it is good above the crossing only.

Any ideas??

sporadic...sure there are times when the bite is good, but i would say there's a bit of exaggeration on their part...don't forget what their livelihood relies on.  ;)

Yep, last 2 times out nothing but chummer's for me and my friend. I guess it pays for Fred's to keep people believing in that pot of gold.

I'm guessing the guys that are reporting of poor or ok fishing don't venture very far up river? Coho ROCKET for their spawning grounds and the lower river is only good when there's fresh pushes of fish through out the day. I've been hooking a LOT of coho... However I haven't been fishing below Ways Field either...

for sure, there has been some good days, but to say it's been excellent on a regular basis is a bit of a stretch.

I would consider fishing good now. I was out yesterday all above the crosssing. I went to three spots, with two I'd never been to before, and hooked at least one coho each spot. For me thats good fisihing. That being said I had long stretches without a bite, and only took one coho home that day. Met lots of people with no fish.
I recommend you try new spots. I try to make a point of doing that every time I go. For guys that don;t getout to often its the only way to get to know the river. Its prety easy on the vedder, look for cars and people and take a walk up or down! Generally when the waters low the lower is good, when the waters higher upper spots are better.
