I have also witnessed a 9 lb doe steelhead already.
I also hooked into a few coho today. Then came back to find someone tried to break into my car....  " tried " because they ruined my door handle and gave up and then hit up the next 3 cars in the lot.
Even with the club on and no face plate on my deck they tried.. the car was baron as I had everything on me while fishing.
Good fish luck though

I'm guessing the guys that are reporting of poor or ok fishing don't venture very far up river? Coho ROCKET for their spawning grounds and the lower river is only good when there's fresh pushes of fish through out the day. I've been hooking a LOT of coho... However I haven't been fishing below Ways Field either...

You're probably right JC. I, like Mr. Gadsen prefer to fish below the crossing and the last two times I fished the Hopedale area and Bergman Rd. side. I'm going tomorrow and will definitely take your advice and fish higher, thanks !

Dippers up top and rippers down low, same crap different spot. The sport is plagued with problems ever since the Fraser was opened for sockeye retention.

I will admit I have just started to fish tamahi and watching those flossers is annoying. It sure is gratifying when you legit hook em and have a good battle down some rapids.

I been out the last 3 days and all upper river. I fish with a foot leader so for sure im legitimately hooking them and i pulled 5 hatch and one wild from the last 3 days. same run. the coho are there. my buddy limited out 2 days in a row. you just got to venture out and find them.

mistermongz AWSOME avatar  ;D ;D ;D

hookR not wanting to side track the thread but leader length means nothing in the legitimacy of fishing. It's all in ones intentions, in fact in the pocket water near the boundary a 8-12" leader would be more effective at flossing fish than a 2-3' leader as the hook gets down and stays down in the swirly pockets. Each time I've been out I've gotten my limit of coho in a few hours usually and continue to C&R after that. So I'd have to say its still good and will continue to be good for another couple weeks as long as the river doesn't get huge and blow out like it usually does this time of the year.

Freds bases their reports on the anglers that come through the door and talk fishing, perhaps that is why some reports are a little suspect. I find that they are quite truthful about conditions and fishing action , in general.
Often one area of the river is not fishing well and another is on fire, that could be called "good fishing" if you were in the right area of river.

Perhaps those who are complaining about Freds reports should concentrate on learning run timings along with river levels graphs and follow weather closely.

I have come to realize over the years that every river gets numerous distinct pushes of each species, aside from the main push of fish that most are looking for.
An example of this is the Coho in the Vedder, you have the early run, the main push of fish and numerous late runs that are pretty much overlooked. These secondary runs of fish are not going to allow you to stand on your favorite rock as waves of coho roll by.
