nice one Hue-Nut  :P

wasnt what i was getting at though  ;)

Im just amazed at how some people can get their fish to lay beside their gear so nicely for photo ops. I tried this with a hatchery fish and the second i took my hand off the fish it went crazy so i took a quick one and then knocked its punk my friend out, then took a couple more before molesting it with a knife. F*** they taste good  ;D

Way to go, Ssypark!!!  Gorgeous wild fish - chrome as can be.

That fly looks almost identical to the fly I got MY first fly-caught steelhead on!

Looks like a Loop Opti or Evotec with the hexagonal burl grip. Very unique - some people find them comfortable.

Thanks! Much more rewarding catching steel on the fly that you tie yourself and have confidence in. As well as catching one on the fly opposed to the now Very dusty old gear rod. The gear fisherman across the river looked pretty jealous and aggravated watching me fight this beauty, and began switching his bait to colorado, to worm, to roe, to yarn, etc EVERY cast afterwards. hahaha

Thank you! Yes it is a Loop Opti Switch rod, i find the hexagonal X-Grip cork pretty comfortable and gives me more accuracy and control when I'm fighting fish and casting.

Cool thanks for the details Ssypark, I have heard good things about the new Loop line up. Very distinct and cool looking cork.

My apologies to the forum for the off topic banter here is a photo to get it back on track from a mid january road trip to the rainforest:

was the gear comment really needed. fishing is fishing whether using fly, gear or spinning. its all about preference. sorry just dont like the one way is better than the other mentality.
