The grass is always greener on the other side. ;D hungry6, I've lived and fished in both Australia and Canada. While the quality of salmon and trout fishing in BC cannot be matched in a few other parts of this planet, Australia's saltwater fishing is far better than all the other regions where I have fished. If given the option on where to fish, I'd rather be jigging or livebaiting for kingies on the East Coast, freespooling for snappers in the South, bottom fishing for King George whiting, rockhopping for drummers, and landbased spinning for kahawai and other pelagic species.

Yes, I have to agree with you there Rod. Fishing here in OZ, we are spoilt for choices, but fishing for me is more than just catching fish, it's about meeting of strangers with similar interest on foreign soil, seeing what they do and their conviction to the cause is mesmerising.
Yes, It's very hard to explain to people the power and explosiveness of jigging 80m+ of water for YTK or amberjack. Sometime the anticipation of the hit is like getting the buzz of afull shot of adrenalin.

But I'm still coming to Canada, mainly BC for some serious salmon fishing. No stopping me now  ;D

Just because a few people recognize where this "might" be doesn't mean the meat hounds do. This is why not one of us have hinted anything about where it "could" be. It also helps that I know my run timings and when things happen due to rain and amount of rainfall  ;)

Big buck from the Copper River.  Around the 40" mark.  One of 3 fish I had take in the run that morning.

another that morning.  wouldn't normally take that many pics, but this one glowed.

this one bent out my hook on the take.  hot fish.

The Copper River will have a tar sands pipeline running along its banks if Premier Christy Clark backs down and lets Harper and Redford (Alberta premier) have their way with our coast.  Northern Gateway will parallel and existing natural gas pipeline.  Here is a photo of that said natural gas pipeline near where I caught that buck.  A landslide tore the pipeline off the mountain and pushed it into the river.  Had this pipeline been carrying tar sands diluted bitumen, goodbye Copper steelhead, salmon and everything downstream.

Now, get out and write letters, make noise about Northern Gateway.  Don't loose this huge part of our coast.  The Skeena needs our help.

AWESOME fish Matt.  That is a trophy!  Look at the size of that tail rudder.

Where should we write to? You should put up a link to one of your well written letters and some addresses.
