Now thats a dive boat.

As I said before...lower me down with my dive gear on one of your traps, and I can spring on the guy who tries to steal the trap.

man that would be fun

An alternative to tacks in the rope, that HAS proven rather successful  ;)

To the top of the trap, attach a six foot length of chain. To this attach twenty feet of razor wire, then another six feet of chain before the rope to the float. The chain keeps the razor wire from cutting through the rope to the float. The razor wire's function is obvious.

Ghawd I hate thieves!

Good luck with it, hope you someday enjoy the level of success reported in the Vedder Thief post!

Cheers,
Nog

Weren't you having a problem with prawn traps going AWOL Nog??

aYup, two lines of four stolen this year. One quite recognizable, as the four traps were research types, not seen in this vicinity before. Dispite an exhaustive search, and several attempted ambushes, we never did find the gear nor the culprits. Probably a good thing on the latter, as I might be the one in the crowbar hotel if we had.

Remaining gear pulled due to this (buddies lines and my crab gear) AND the commercial vacumn now working the Inlet amongst two hundred sets of tourist gear. Slim picking's now, and not at all worth the risk.

Now have 200 feet of razor wire, and many lengths of chain, awaiting next year's show. Letcha know if we find any floatin' fingers...

what about mounting a potatoe canon on the bow of your own boat
then blasting the starch out of some low life?
hmm new possibilities for the "flyer"
the CANON version

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions; all of them were excellent and helped to cheer up the Admiral. He especially liked Nog's input. ;) Me and the wife were out on the chuck yesterday and met the Admiral. He brought out his other crab trap and said "wtf, I might as well use it!" and went trolling. Neither boat got any hits (let alone fish) in the 5 hrs we were out there. Was a beauty day though and we saw a California Sea Lion munching on about an 8lb Spring (we got within 50ft as he wacked it on the water). Thanks again for the input.
