Great pics.  Seems Sunday and Monday were washouts as to fish.  I think I will head out Thursday or Friday.

Nice pic. Too bad very few fish. If the Wilson Rd stretch of pools & runs don't have any one hooking anything, there is very few fish in the river indeed. I have thought that 14 fish in the Derby should signify a good year for steelhead.

There were 340 guys in that derby, and many, many good rods.
I wouldn't consider 14 fish all that good, especially since I did not hear of many other fish wild or hatchery.

That being said, I wouldn't consider it a terrible year, just a bit slower than last year and wayyyy more guys out!

I think people are forgetting that last year was an exceptionally good year

Maybe I'm just fishing productive areas or something but I have more fish this year then I had by the end of last season(more trips out helps too mind you). I haven't been skunked in 4 straight trips and have seen somebody else get a fish every trip. The fish have been pushed into some odd areas however due to angler pressure as there seems to be a lot more guys on the water this year as well.

Thanks for the great report and pics!
My wife is gone this week and I'm at home with the kids all week. I'm so glad to see some new reports and pics on here, even without fish porn, helps me feel sane!

I didn't check how many steelhead were reported at the Derby last year. But last year was a great steelhead year no doubt. Over the last 20 years or so, if I remember one year was crazy with 30+ fish, and most of the slow years were 6 to 10 fish. So 14 fish this year seems decent enough. But like the latest Stamp report, we may be hitting a slow stretch. Just a bit puzzled that after the last high and murky water, when the water clears and lower, usually great fishing followed and shouldn't be this slow.

Don't get discouraged guys . one thing with steelhead fishing is never give up. When you least expect it , a steelhead will strike.
