Stoke's Pit/Latimer Lake
« on: February 10, 2013, 05:02:45 PM »

Hi All,
Just went for a walk around Stoke's Pit on this beautiful Family Day holiday.
I remember going there as a kid and have read a few reports from a few years ago that there are fish in the lake.
Does anyone know if there is anything still in the pond?
Thanks
JOE

use the SEARCH function. this has been discussed a few times in the past.

I know there is no trout left but i believe there is still a few species of course fish still in the lake.

That would be awesome for me since I live a block away.  I've never had any luck there though.  When did you last catch something there?

Used to be stocked with rainbows. They stopped years ago. Used to fish there lots as a kid, it was fun and close to home. I remember they would dump brood in there in fall. I don't remember there ever being bass in the lake. Somebody dumped them in then.

I was just down there yesterday afternoon trying out a new rod/reel/line setup. lake looks pretty good and full of water. I wish they would start putting rainbows back in there, i used to enjoy fishing this lake alot. I also noticed tons of black/silver chironie cases floating on the water. besides the ducks/geese the lake looked void of life.

Rodney  -  if they have solved the problem of why the lake drained then why not start stocking it again ?

Sure would be nice to have alternative urban options for a lake you can put a boat into besides Mill and Lafarge. how many members remember the big my friend broods that used to dwell in Stokes pit ? i remember hooking into a few around 10lbs that were in great shape and fought like a son of a ...

I've asked the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC to address your question so someone should post up an answer tomorrow.
