This site is a venture backed by Sunstone Capital, a European investment bank. It apparently hosts the output of any group that wants to put material out; the polished look has to do with the platform, not the groups flogging their "products". It appears to be similar to those old self-publishing houses known as the vanity press that were around in the days of books, the kind of place where you pay to have your stuff published. In the spirit of Chris's title, here's another nice little bit of fish farm news. Given that BC farmed salmon was served at Obama's inauguration, the US Open Tennis Championship and now the Kentucky Derby, it would seem that the farmed salmon boycott isn't going too well.

That's the equivalent of me saying "It rained today, it seems we are going to have a flood"   

I wasn't aware that anyone was even organizing a feedlot salmon boycott in the US.

Well that would be typical anti-farm strategy. Don't go after the market where most of the product is sold and where a boycott might actually have a noticeable effect on demand. Far better to spend all your efforts on a small market segment where a boycott won't reduce demand enough for the farms to notice.

Of course, we all know the reason for that. The campaign here isn't about really reducing demand. It's about twisting knickers and how that causes those strangled scrotums to open their wallets to fund the cause.

Careful what you wish for.....  The anti feedlot salmon campaign has obviously been very effective in BC. However don't mistake the intent of the campaign.... it's all about making people aware of the risks associated with putting feedlots in our oceans.

While we should care what sort of crap we eat, we are most concerned with the crap the feedlots are dropping in our oceans and the resulting damage to the wild salmon.

Even if it were true that the boycott was having any effect on local consumption (and you would need to produce some evidence beyond your personal speculations to confirm that), the fact is the local market for local farmed salmon is a very small component of the overall market the farms supply and attempts to reduce that by boycott have negligible effects on total demand for the farm's products. Anyone who applied even a minimum of logic to the situation would realize that and would realize that it is a wasted effort.

On the other hand, keeping your panties wadded increases the likelihood that you will donate to Morton and her vendetta against farms so it is far more profitable for her to focus on tilting at this windmill than it would be to actually try to organize a boycott in the market that consumes most of the product.

You really need some new material af    And please explain how the recent protests have, in your words, been very effective?   I was in the Chilliwack Superstore this morning and people are still buying farmed salmon.  People want fresh, not frozen fish and farmed salmon provide that.
