2013's Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley catchable rainbow trout stocking starts today, March 21st. The Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery, operated by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC, is responsible for stockings of these fish between March and June, September and November, so fishing is expected to be excellent during these months. These angling opportunities are fantastic for families, youth and entry-level anglers due to high catch success rate.

As usual, we will once again be providing regular stocking reports to keep you updated so you can plan your next weekend fishing trip better. Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley lake stocking reports will be available in this thread as well as on this page.

WHERE TO FISH?

Here are some of the lakes in Region Two that are stocked with rainbow trout.

• Alice Lake, Squamish
• Brohm Lake, Squamish
• Browning Lake, Squamish
• Buntzen Lake, Port Moody
• Como Lake, Coquitlam
• Deer Lake, Burnaby
• Edith Lake, Squamish
• Green Timbers Lake, Surrey
• Lafarge Lake, Coquitlam
• Rice Lake, North Vancouver
• Mill Lake, Abbotsford
• Sasamat Lake, Belcarra

Fishing in the City is a new urban fishing program launched by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC.

REGULATIONS

Before heading out, please be aware of the followings:

• You must have a valid BC freshwater angling license.
• You are permitted to keep four trout in Region 2 lakes, unless stated otherwise in lake-specific regulations.
• If fishing from shore, only ONE fishing rod/line is permitted for each angler.
• If fishing alone in a boat, an angler is allowed to use TWO fishing rods/lines.
• Only ONE hook is allowed on each fishing line.
• There are exceptions/specific regulations for some lakes (such as catch and release only, requirement of barbless hook, boating restrictions), please see the table in Region Two's regulations where each lake is listed for exceptions.
• If you witness a violation, please phone 1-877-952-7277 (RAPP) and report it.

Seems the daily limit for Lafarge, Como, Deer and Rice lake have been changed to 2 this year.

Lafarge, Como, Green Timbers and Rice Lake have been stocked this afternoon. Lafarge received 1,250 fish, I'll have the numbers tomorrow.

I like that the daily limit has been reduced. Means it will hopefully get fished out a little slower. I enjoy taking my daughters over there to catch and release a few trout.

Lowering the limit is excellent news indeed. It means the freezer packers have to make more trips back and forth to get their fill.

Glad to see the limit lowered to two!!! This fishery is meant for families, young and people looking to enjoy some fishing locally, not a daily meat source.  Great decision!

Deer lake is one the list?.... haven't caught anythin but bass and carp in 2 years.

They stock it most years, but not as heavily as the other urban lakes.
Last year they put 1600 in, in early spring, but that was it for the year.

the size of trout that was dumped into green timbers is perfect for the cormarrands.looks like these birds are having a great spring break bash in there. them fish wont be in there for long.

They hatchery will attempt to stock Mill Lake, Rolley Lake, Mike Lake tomorrow, and Buntzen Lake, Sasamat Lake on Wednesday. I will have confirmation of these before the start of the long weekend.

Please don't forget to renew your freshwater fishing licence by Sunday.
