Please can anybody tell us how much pencil lead weighs?

I dont have kitchen scales and i am wondering how long the lead should be to set a 30gram float.

Haha, no idea how much it weighs !! but... go with a finger length, and maybe scale back a tad from there. You only want the top of the float above water or u will miss the subtle hits.

Use a tall glass filled with water, attach different lengths of lead to the bottom of the float, see where the float rides.

2 3/4" of lead will balance a 25 gram float great so I would say try 3" of lead for 30 gram float.

It depends on the diameter of the lead you are using. I think there are different alloys used as well.

x2 .

Hey ALBA CHIEFISH .       If it is that important to you, you should bring a scale along with you when you go fishing.

X2. However I find 2.5 inches for a 25g float and 3 inches for a 30g float. Speaking of 1/4 lead that is. I don't like the thicker lead I find it gets hung up more often.

Go to post office and ask the clerk to weight for you.
