« on: May 20, 2013, 09:39:33 PM »

I figure with the intel on this board I shoukd be able to find the answer

I am looking for a lake..

Basically I have a small trailer ... Its basic...   I want to take the wife and kids somewhere this summer but they want to swim and play (they are 4 and 6)

I wanma be able to wet a line... I wont have a boat but it would be cool to catch a fish with the kids

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Juniper Beach Provincial Park, Thompson River. Good swimming spot in front of camp, also generally productive fishing for rainbow trout and mountain whitefish. One note, the trains can be a bit too loud, especially at night.

Tunkwa Lake Resort. Friendly and helpful owners and caretakers, trout can be caught from the docks, Nice playground for kids.

One of the campgrounds at Skaha Lake, Osoyoos Lake. Good weather for swimming. A variety of species can be caught from shore.

Depends how far you want to go. Our family always spent some time at Hicks lake near Harrison and had a blast. Awesome swimming lake if the weather is warm. Better fishing is usually had at nearby Deer lake but you can definitely catch fish at Hicks too.

I was trying to answer this question myself.  Not sure if you found this or not but there is the The British Columbia Fishing Resorts and Outfitters Association and they have a website that allows you to set search criteria ie cabins, playgrounds, showers etc.

Sandy Point resort, Shuswap Lake....5 miles west of Salmon Arm off the Trans Canada hwy 1..

3000 ft of sand beach...security patrolled at night...sheltered bay area so water is mostly calm...shallow warm swimming area (once the sun does its warm up thing) and a few different species to wet a line for off the point....Great family spot.

Here ya go

Well, I do know Pierre Point campground does allow dogs, and its about another 1/4 mile north from Sandy point...

However a couple of minuses there....Train tracks run right beside it and locomotives thunder through throughout the night....the beach is a little more exposed to prevailing wind and lastly the Trip advisor website has some less than complimentary reviews since it was taken over by new owners.

Fishing there is a tad more challenging , I used to wade out waist deep during warm summer evenings and do battle with the hoards of small whitefish that move into the shallows along with NPM's and the odd cruising rainbow ...
Using my #4 weight and a green spratley....those little Whitefish can be surprisingly scrappy for their diminutive size, on light tackle.
