The 11th annual Fish for the Future will be happening on Saturday July 6th, once again at the No. 2 Road Pier in Steveston, from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
FREE fishing activities for kids under the age of 16! All equipment provided, FREE juvenile fishing licences available at the event. FREE fly casting and fly tying lessons for all ages. Educational, game booths, and much more! No registration required, just show up!
I'm looking for volunteers as usual. I need 4 to 6 people to help out with the setup before the event at 8:30am. We need many bodies to help out kids on the dock during the event (keeping track of rods, baiting hooks, untangling lines, showing kids how to catch a sculpin, unhooking fish, etc). We need volunteer fly tiers for the fly tying booth as usual, four to five tiers are needed. We need a couple of fly casters to run the fly casting instruction throughout the event. We need two to three people to man the aquariums by making sure kids' fish stay alive (changing water every 30 minutes, releasing fish back into the river after awhile, etc). We also need 3 to 4 people writing tidal water licences throughout the event.
If you are interested to help out, post a reply or send me an email at
info@fishingwithrod.com. Bring your kids out!
