Getting to the Vedder old style
« on: July 12, 2013, 12:11:25 AM »

Did any of the oldtimers use the inter-urban rail line to get to the Vedder river back in the 1950's?  I thought the clip was kinda cool.  It looks like the station was by the canal...

I love watching those old documentaries. It's the closest thing to time travel we have.
Thanks for posting that.

I am sure that if I had lived in that era and fished, I would have been on board one of those electric cars quite often.

I am glad this was appreciated.  I stumbled across the video on youtube and I figured it would be appreciated on this forum.  It sure made me dream about the old days: less anglers, more fish, and apparently an easy and affordable way to the river.  Must have been nice.

would be some pretty good bush whacking as well.  I bet half the river was inaccessible unless one lived up there for the summer months.

Nice post katfish ;)  One can only wonder what the fishing was like, but I bet it was damn good!

Awesome video, thx for posting.

Looks like the Hopedale trainbridge at the beginning of the movie. Funny how many stations or stops there were, must've been a long trip.
