Camping is not camping without a campfire. The campfire is the main reason I go camping. Sitting back enjoying a cold beveridge,roasting a smokie is the bomb!

Couldn't you still bring your portable cookers though? It's just no open flame camp fires.

This prohibition applies to open fires of any size, fires with a burn registration number, industrial burning, fireworks, tiki torches, sky lanterns and burning barrels. The prohibition does not apply to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes, or to a portable campfire apparatus with a CSA or ULC rating that uses briquettes, liquid or gaseous fuel, as long as the height of the flame is less than 15 centimeters.

we will have a propane fake fire with us. I know its not the same but we camp a lot in the interior so a fire ban get to be pretty standard from July until October

Those of you that use the portable "campfires," what brands do you use?  I see Canadian Tire sells the Ban Buster and Homehardware sells the Outland.  I bought the Outland one from HH yesterday and it seems o.k., I just wish it had a lid of some sort to make it easier to transport.

Although this is terrible news for most, it looks like the lake I am going to next weekend is just outside of the fire ban zone. Let's hope it stays that way!

Don't know where you're headed croy_00, and you may be aware of this already but there is also a fire ban in the Kamloops and Cariboo fire centres.

I remember reading somewhere that this is because resources are spread thin across the whole province but if an area is monitored full time by a fire crew then it's ok to have fires. Don't quote me on this, and not sure where those areas are but if someone is desperate they should look that up
