Going out to squamish river on Friday, Need help!
« on: August 06, 2013, 10:15:39 PM »

Hey guys so like the title says I'm heading out to squamish river to fish for some pinks with a few friends friday morning and I had a few questions regarding directions there, the gates, and the bait ban. None of us have ever been out to the Squamish river before.

I came accros this post http://fishingwithrod.com/fishy_news/2013-07-23-lower-squamish-river-access-information.html

We are planning to start off the day at point 1, Whittaker slough access point then possibly head to point 2, DOS operations yard, if we don't have any luck. So i've googled directions to West Coast Railway Heritage park, but I can't seem to find on the map where I can turn off to get to Squamish River Dyke Road to park my car.

And regarding the gates, where along Squamish River Dyke Road are they located exactly and what time do they open? We are planning to leave vancouver around 5 AM.

And for my last question regarding the bait ban, if i use yarn balls dipped in pautzke's nectar, is that considered "bait"?

Sorry for the dumb questions we're all very new to the sport and in need of help! Thanks everybody! ;D

Yes a yarn ball dipped in nectar is considered bait. Anything scented is bait. If you choose to use any artificial it must be unscented or you face possible fines from CO's

as you come into Squamish take the LEFT at the Mcdonalds, stay on that street and take the RIGHT at the PriceSmart/Save-on foods, follow that road a few hundred feet and it turns into gravel, stay to the right as you will come to a fork in the road. Just stay on that road and it becomes pavement again, keep going until you see a sign that says The Spit and an arrow pointing left, take that left and it leads up onto the dyke. I believe this is exactly where the gate is. If the gate is not right there than take a right onto the dyke and follow until you hit the gate. This will take you to spot #1, now just so you know, everyone that's parking at spot #2 will also be fishing the same area. This part of the river can get very crowded very fast but as far as I have ever seen people are respectful to each other

good luck

Talk about giving the guy the scenic route!   LOL   You can get to the Railway Park much faster by driving another mile down the highway, turning left at Wendy's/Timmies  (Industrial Way).  Turns right on Queens and follow it to you get there....just across the tracks.

In the words of Wendy......"Now that's better!"

Hook has probably had no choice but to take the scenic route. His sentencing conditions, and outstanding warrants for littering probably explain his avoidance of Timmies.  ;D
