One I lost at my feet yesterday was on a pink jig also, from the "Humpy Death Kit".

From yesterday's DFO panel meeting:

Pink salmon continue to increase in
abundance in the Fraser River with daily migrations past Mission in the last
few days in the 253,000 to 702,000 pink per day range.

that's quite the range.  I guess their estimating is not very accurate.

700,000 per day?  ;D  DFO should ask the fishermen who may have a better estimate.  ;)

ha-ha-ha, so true   ;D, they should give us sports-fishermen a break and close of the fisheries for the next few days.

Hi, newbie advise wanted - Id like to get out this week with my kids.  I have a 15 foot whaler but I pretty much a have found that the best boat launch to launch solo is pitt river so anything close to that would be good.

thanks :)

any reports from people fishing the North Arm or Middle Arm(across yvr) Fraser, seeing any salmon surfacing? Just wondering if it might be worthwhile going there.

Checked North Arm yesterday at lunch time in Burnaby but didn't see any movement.  If they were there, they were hiding very well.  They are probably moving through already but just not in great numbers yet.

The hot weather isn't helping.  Was fishing south burnaby today and didn't see any risers and didn't get any bites.  The fish will be staying on the botttom in this weather.  With close to zero visability at that depth, maybe glo lures are the way to go.

This year is getting very frustrating on the tidal Fraser  :-\  Today i figured I would fish 2 different spots today to catch both high tides at diff spots . I started off in New west area in morning 11am-1pm and north arm park from 6-8pm. I wasn't only one that was skunked as I only seen 1 fish caught in morning out of 15+ guys . I am getting very annoyed with these pinks because they are suppose to be easiest salmon to catch???? I just keep loosing tons of lures cause people are saying slow retrieve is best for these fish but I swear its just shear luck 1 or 2 lucky guys out of 20 guys will land a pink but those are low odds for pinks?

Can anyone shed any light on whats happening this year?

Either the DFO has vastly overestimated the pink run, or radiation from Japan has altered their behavior.   :D  Been out 6 times over the past week, and caught 2 humpy's on Saturday.  That was the only day I saw constant action.  I think everyone was into at least 1 fish.

Or they mean some days there are 250 000 swimming past the electronic counters and other days 700 000 swim by, producing the "range".  It's not their fault, blame the pinks for swimming by without biting your hooks.
