Yesterday the river was full of fish and void of people.
Today, the complete opposite.
It was good to see many familiar faces this afternoon. We get to catch up once every two years, catching some pink salmon is just a bonus, right?
Good to see my buddy Vince's 8 year old son Jaden catching his first pink salmon. He did his own cast, retrieve and hook-up.
Vince and I have fished together along the Tidal Fraser in Richmond since the late 90s. We started out handlining chubs, then I showed him how to catch pikeminnow with spinners in 2000, then introduced him to pinks in 2001, and coho salmon the following year. Nice to see him passing that on.
Lots of kids out with parents today. This is why the Tidal Fraser pink fishery is so fantastic. It can be crowded, but the atmosphere is always positive.
