I second that - although I like the Abu7001 model (lefty retrieve)

I wouldn't use anything smaller than my Penn 320 GT, and thats a small reel for sturge,

I have an abu 7001 I use occasionally for sturgeon. It works fine but if you get into a fish over 5 ft it has difficulty putting up enough brake power... I would like a reel with a little more drag.

That being said,  it works for sturgeon.

I thought I was goi g to go with a level wind, but was talked I to the penn 330 spinning and am so glad I did. Farther cast g and no birds nests ever. It's a great reel.

I've been using a Abu 7001 and a Penn 321 GTI for years, neither has ever let me down ! Both reels with an Ugly Stick, great combo, great price !
