Hopefully this rain won't affect the visibility of the Fraser too much, assuming there is an opening of course.   ;D

As a result of significant increases in Fraser pink sun size during this week
pink directed fishing opportunities with non-retention of sockeye are planned
in some areas.  The Department is planning any fishery openings with a cautious
approach to minimize additional impacts on Fraser River sockeye.  The
Department's priorities are to ensure that there is sufficient sockeye
returning to the spawning grounds and all fisheries are being managed to
minimize sockeye impacts.  Fishers are requested to check for any restrictions
in their local areas.

FISHING OPPORTUNIES ARE PLANNED IN SOME AREAS,SO WAIT FOR MORE NOTICES TODAY OR TOMOROW NOT GIVING UP YET FOR THIS WEEKEND,

Openings are being planned. There should be fishery notices issued tomorrow. Until then, all salmon fishing remains closed.

It's been there since at LEAST 10 AM.  Unethical to try to drive their sales like that.  I for one will NOT EVER go there again!

I have no problems with their sales tactic in this case.  You've gotta do what you gotta do to pay your bills.  It seems like the wheel is in motion to make what they posted to be true anyways.

Very irresponsible at least. Its not unreasonable to expect the local tackle store to know the regs and openings so to put it on the front page like that, they better be darn sure its accurate. I wonder what they are actually telling people in the store …

My buddy placed a phone call to sea run tackle as well and they said it was going to open so berry's wasn't the only one. It's just berry's advertised it on their website. As for trusting them, I think they had a source and jumped to conclusions unfortunately. However they aren't not the first tackle shop to post false info to drive up sales, heck Freds does it all the time but just not regulation based.

Don't get caught up in all the talk etc.

Watch for announcements from the DFO, they apparently have the say to open it or not.

Keep on checking their site.

Then I've got a bridge to sell you - brand new and generates tolls for your pleasure income - heck, I gotta do what I gotta do to pay bills  ::) :P
