My buddy and I were out early this am, out of Steveston. It wasn't too long before we saw a large pod of Orcas invade the area and then strangely, after a close pass by a few members of the pod (right under my boat), I got a pink. When we got the fish in the boat we noticed the very fresh wounds on it's sides and still bleeding. We figured that the pink just escaped the whale and then promptly hit my spoon. No other fish hooked as we were after springs, and we didn't see or hear of any springs caught out there. We saw lots of guys with pinks. DFO was out there in their inflatable handing out fines as well. Lots of big fish on the sounder but couldn't get them to bite today. Maybe it had something to do with the pod of whales and the porpoise. The whales (and whale-watching boats) were out there all morning.

Out there too from low till 7.  Ran 4 rods 70, 55, 41, 30 feet.  Was very slow but manged some BIG humpys   Springs were all hiding from those whales I guess.  Long storey short managed 4 does, but alot more to the boat.
Oh ya ran chovies with green flash, herring cut plug before giving up and changin to stinky pinky gear.
