Checked out the Vedder yesterday and fished it this morning. I was drifting roe trying for springs and coho but caught a few pinks. I did hook one spring (about 7 lbs) got it almost to hand before it spat the hook. LOTS of pinks in the river.

I also took some underwater video of the pinks with my gopro which I put up on youtube. Unfortunately the video clarity isn't as good as the raw footage, but its watchable.

Ya I had no idea those little guys were even there until i watched the video.

I watched it again and it looks like there is a male pink with a spoon hanging out of its mouth coming into the screen from the left at about 3:08.
I also liked the whitefish that was following close behind the female pink looking for a meal.

I was up by the Hydro Rail Bridge yesterday for about 4 hours on the 16th.  A good number of fishers using spinning rods. drift fishing and fly guys.  Usually enough room to cast and also land fish.  Lots of fish in the river but not up to the usual standard yet and mostly still silver however the males are humping up.  Landed 6 lost another 6 close in and kept one for the guy visiting from Japan who had never fished before.  He never hooked into a fish, a few bites so I let him land a couple on my rod, was he ever excited.

Yup. That was my clear intermediate fly line  I was curious to see if the fish would react to it floating by. They didn't seem to care.
