« on: September 25, 2013, 07:39:35 PM »

Hey....

I wanna get out and fish for some pinks.... I usually fish the vedder with buddies but now I want totake my kid out.... she is almost 4 and wants to tag along.... does anyone know of a safe spot I can go to where I don't have to stress about her falling in.... anywhere in langley?

Thanks for your time. ..

Derby Reach Park is in Langley and it's pretty safe.

The fishing is really good during the peak of the Pink run but the run is starting to taper off now. You can always test your luck.

Poplar bar and Two Bit bar are better than Derby Reach and the ground is more level although it is sand instead of gravel. Which would be better for a fall or slip but worse for getting dirty  and wet sand sometimes occupies a child's imagination easily lol

I second Poplar Bar, lots of beach type sand for the kids to play in if they get bored.

Derby's a snag-fest - there's a 100 miles of mono on the bottom waiting to catch your lure.

I usually fly fish or cast spoons at Derby Reach. Both have been quite successful for me.

I second Poplar Bar as well ,its actually a Gvrd park, large sand bar.
Its spoon fishing ,croc or blade.
Drawback for youngsters is you have to cast very far out .
Great place on a sunny day.

I'm lazy sometimes and cast out a bar rig with either roe or spin-n-glo. Put a hole punch in the wings this helps it spin faster in the slower moving current of the lower fraser.

If you drive past the park entrance and go further, you will see some nice stretch with nice gravel/sand beaches and shallower water, perfect for fly fishing, spinning and bar fish for coho.
