@humpy....yes all 4 hatch and 2 I lost but never had the chance to see what kind of salmon they were.
@brownmancheng....yes I guess it's the poor lighting and I was just using my phone cam to snap pictures.

How long of a leader do you guys use when fishing roe?

Ok, what about distance from float to pencil weight? Do you use the wool knot when using roe?

It will depend on how deep the pool you were fishing, so basically it is a trial and error thing. I will normally adjust my float from my weight from time to time to locate where the fish are suspended in the water column. This info I learned from the veteran fishers of this forum.

Personally, I don't use any wool when using roe. You will learn lots of good info from this site as you go along.

Sorry you mean the egg loop for the wool knot? Yes you need that knot to tie the roe.

It depends how deep is the water . From float to pencil lead it can vary from 1 to 7 feet , then from pencil lead to hook ( leader ) it should be 12"-30" , im always around 16-24" . I put my bait on the hook and im good to go

Ok, so just try one depth, and if it doesn't work try something else, ok thanks guys. So I use the same knot I use for the wool for the roe?

No worries man. Yup, just use the same wool knot for the roe and happy fishing.

I was fishing last year for coho with roe, not sure if it is me or the knot. I was using the same knot I use for the wool and I put the roe through the loop and once I tightened the knot, the hook would be slanted, is this normal?  Thanks again.

Yeah that's normal with using roe.

Oh ok, thanks. I though that maybe that would affect the hook set.
