My understanding is that u r not allowed to fish before the first light in the river. Is this true?
Could not find anything about fishing hours on the reg.

Night time fishing closure is implemented by Fisheries and Oceans Canada for salmon fishing in certain streams, not all streams. To find out which streams allow only daylight fishing for salmon (one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunrise), find the region where your stream is at and read the regulations specifically for that stream:

http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/rec/regions-eng.html

For example, under Chilliwack River in http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/rec/fresh-douce/region2-eng.html daylight hours only applies, but it does not apply to many other streams such as the Capilano River.

You would have to be pretty stupid to try and fish the cap in the darkness. Very dangerous river!
