Due to work This is the quickest I can report.

Decided to fish because of the huge rainfall predicted. I knew the portion of the river I like to fish would be blown out bad.

Also very lazy so around 1230 in the afternoon a friend and I went down to chuck spoons and spinners.

I am using a very light rod with 10 lb test and my friend has a trout rod with 6 lb test.

When we made it to the shore there was so much room for a Saturday we were astonished. Quickly started chucking metal in and after 2 casts my friend hit a wild coho. around 4 lb buck.
So fishing was ON
The next cast I landed a 7 lb hatch doe.

with such quick success we quickly asked each other " how fast were you reeling in " blah blah blah.. and we were dialed right in.
after a few casts we hooked up again, Double header this time. Both of us landing another hatch coho. weighing 8 and 10 lbs.
So we continued to pound the river and Whammy we were hooked up again.
So after about a half an hour being on the beach we had hooked into 11 coho and 0 pinks. 0 springs.  lost a few of the fish and some were just nice and wild. We persisted to hammer the fish for another hour and a half. At the end of the day we walked out with 5 hatch for the both of us. 3 for my friend and 2 for me.


Best day coho fishing ever had by the both of us.
For once we were those guys.

So what color spoons were you using?  I'm surprised the pinks didn't go for them.

Wow, coho bonanza! must be silver/chrome spoons, perhaps with a touch of blue strip.

I was fishing a silver colored spoon with pink on one side and hooked a lot of pinks that day.  When I switched to a copper colored Gibbs Croc with rainbow stripes, I stopped getting bites period.

best I have found are all silver and copper/silver in the Vedder for lures. Other rivers other stuff usually works better. Coho annoy me at times

Coho in the vedder definitely can turn on and off onto colours.
I, personally, have never done super well there with spinners.Switch to spoons, and can't keep em off.

Last couple years I have had multiple 10-20 fish days fishing over the Thanksgiving weekend. Best have always been smaller gold or brass spoons with orange in them. Small as in dick nites and crocs 3/16 size. Some days (not often), they won't touch those and are all over the silver/illusion scale koho/kitimat spoons in 35 and 45 size. As a last resort I'll toss some 2/5 R&B silver/brass spoons and will do well. If a simple cast retrieve isn't working, try jigging the spoons down deep 

Can never go wrong with the old standby of a gold hammered fire strip croc on a new river!

Nice haul man, and a great average size! Can't wait to try it out next weekend! It's been an unreal year already over here... and it's just getting started up!

Awesome...gotta love it when you have a day like that, but when you have it with a buddy its that much better.

We all know the canal can be great with spoons & spinners when the water is right and a new school of coho just come up from the mouth. But right now at this high water, the canal is a huge strip of water.

That was a very nice day on the river.
Good avg size for sure.
The trick wasn't the color of blade.. just tossing it in the right spot and reeling at the best speed ever.
